#whatIwishIknew CEO Jason Caras speaks at Inc. 5000 event

NEW YORK, August 17, 2016Inc. magazine today ranked IT Authorities on its 35th annual Inc. 5000, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. the list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment— its independent small businesses. Companies such as Microsoft, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, Pandora, Timberland, LinkedIn, Yelp, Zillow, and many other well-known names gained their first national exposure as honorees of the Inc. 5000.

The 2016 Inc. 5000, unveiled online at Inc.com and with the top 500 companies featured in the September issue of Inc. (available on newsstands August 23) is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. The average company on the list achieved a mind-boggling three-year growth of 433%. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue is $200 billion, and the companies on the list collectively generated 640,000 jobs over the past three years, or about 8% of all jobs created in the entire economy during that period. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at www.inc.com/inc5000.

“The Inc. 5000 list stands out where it really counts,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “It honors real achievement by a founder or a team of them. No one makes the Inc. 5000 without building something great – usually from scratch. That’s one of the hardest things to do in business, as every company founder knows. But without it, free enterprise fails.”

The annual Inc. 5000 event honoring all the companies on the list will be held from October 18 through 20, in San Antonio, TX. Speakers include some of the greatest entrepreneurs of this and past generations, such as best-selling author and strategist Tony Robbins, SoulCycle co-founders Elizabeth Cutler and Julie Rice, Cornerstone OnDemand founder, president and CEO Adam Miller, Marvell Technology Group director and co-founder Weili Dai, and New Belgium Brewing co-founder and executive chair Kim Jordan.

IT Authorities Named 2016 Florida Companies to Watch Winners

IT Authorities
CEO: Jason Caras
Location: Tampa, FL
Year Founded: 2006
Primary Business: Information Technology
Website: ITAuthorities.com

Tampa, FL – August 26, 2016 – Jason Caras, co-founder of IT Authorities, is a prolific serial entrepreneur who has never known how to give up. Caras started his first company, a painting company, at the age of 15. He grew that painting company to two full-time teams of painters who did their jobs while Caras attended his high school classes. Along the way, he has launched insurance agencies and an insurance company, a telecom company, and two IT companies.

While these companies were not always successful, Caras has always believed that when you fall down, you should make sure you pick something up. “It never crossed my mind to give up and work for someone else,” he said. “Working for someone else was never a long-term solution in my eyes.” Now IT Authorities is growing rapidly, to the tune of 137% growth in 2015. It employs 90 people, and we just moved into new corporate headquarters in Tampa.

Caras attributes the firm’s success to three main factors: focus, people, and processes. “We bought an IT company in 2002 and ran it into ground by 2005 by taking a narrowly focused business and turning into one that tried to be all things to all people,” he said. “We decided to start over but with a militant, disciplined focus on doing one thing and being the best at it.”

In addition to its focus on managed services, IT Authorities also adheres to finely honed and documented processes that allows it to consistently deliver on its service promises. Lastly, Caras credits his co-founder for much of the company’s success. “Jason Pollner is a true genius,” Caras said. “He is the maestro to the orchestra of precision that is our company.”

Caras’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to follow your passion. “Don’t start up a business for the money,” he said. “Find something you are actually passionate about because when you’re passionate, you will live and breathe it. Those who are in it for the money will never be able to do it as well as you then. Have a singular focus on what you can do better than others and document every process possible to allow for duplication of efforts and scalability.”

GrowFL names IT Authorities as a 2016 Florida Company to Watch

IT Authorities is among 50 statewide companies expected to see significant growth over the next several years. IT Authorities was selected from more than 500 nominees for Florida Companies to Watch, a statewide program managed by economic development group GrowFL, in association with the Edward Lowe Foundation.

IT Authorities’s management team, competitive market position and strong community involvement were among several factors that put them in contention for the award.

“These stand-out companies are all led by entrepreneurs, and have demonstrated their capacity and intent to grow,” said Dr. Tom O’Neal, executive director of the Florida Economic Gardening Institute and associate vice president for the University of Central Florida’s Office of Research and Commercialization.  “They also all have critical intellectual property or a niche position that gives them a competitive edge in their markets,” he said.

This is a strong group of companies that deserve this special recognition given annually to the state’s top second stage companies,” said Dr. O’Neal.  Second-stage companies are defined as those with six to 150 full-time employees and between $750,000 and $100 million in annual revenue. There are many programs and incubators promoting start-up businesses; GrowFL is the only Florida program that focuses exclusively on second-stage companies.

The 50 companies named the 2016 Florida Companies to Watch generated a total of more than $1.1 billion in revenue and added nearly 1,200 employees between 2012 and 2015.

Together, the companies project a 30 percent increase in revenue and 33 percent increase in job growth in 2016.

Companies named to the list will be officially recognized November 3rd at the Hard Rock Live, Universal CityWalk, Orlando.

GrowFL Announces 2015 Florida Companies to Watch Finalists

IT Authorities Among Second-Stage Businesses Competing to Earn Prestigious Honor

TAMPA, Fla. – June 29, 2015 – IT Authorities was among the first round of 2015 Florida Companies to Watch finalists recently announced by GrowFL. The awards event – now in its fifth year – honors 50 select second-stage companies from throughout the state for developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities, and broadening new industries throughout Florida. More than 500 companies were nominated for this year’s award. The 101 finalists collectively represent $694 million in annual revenue and employ 3,280 full-time equivalent employees.

“We are humbled to be included in this prestigious group of companies” said Jason Caras, IT Authorities Co-CEO. “IT Authorities is experiencing tremendous growth this year but we never take our success for granted.”

The Florida Companies To Watch program consists of two rounds of selections. Finalists now advance to the second round, where they will be further evaluated based on their performance in the marketplace, innovative products, services or processes, philanthropy and empowered employees.

“We applaud these first round finalists, all of which exhibit impressive strengths in entrepreneurial leadership, product innovation, social/community responsibility and competitive business practices,” says Dr. Tom O’Neal, GrowFL Executive Director.

Developed by the Edward Lowe Foundation, Florida Companies To Watch is a distinguished awards program specifically designed to seek out second-stage businesses from a wide range of industries representing all areas of the state, not just those in major metropolitan areas. In addition to evaluating past growth and projected success, applicant companies are judged according to their special strengths and impact in their markets, communities and within the state – thus deeming them “worth watching.”

The winners will be announced in late August. The 2015 honorees will be celebrated at the awards ceremony November 5th at the Hard Rock Live at Universal Resort.

Company Recognized for Forward-Thinking Approach to Meeting the Needs of Today’s IT Channel

Tampa, FL, February 18th, 2014 – IT Authorities, today announced it has been named to CRN’s Managed Service Provider (MSP) 500 list as one of the MSP Pioneer 250.
